50 Cent Reveals Trey Songz Told Him Not To Change ‘Power’ Intro, Joe Breaks Silence On Fans Response
To say Power fans were livid about the new intro this season is an understatement. Many were NOT pleasantly surprised when Trey Songz offered his vocals instead of fellow singer Joe, who has been the voice of the intro since the first season. Considering this is Power’s 6th and final season, it’s safe to say viewers wanted Joe to represent once again.
Joe has finally spoken out about it for the first time. He wrote Wednesday,
“All in favor say I! FANS HAVE A LOT OF #power! Ya’ll are amazing! Will hit y’all once I’m settled in AFRICA @50cent – ALL LOVE – (we made a classic!) #power#powerthemesong #therealjoethomas“
Now, the creator of the series 50 Cent, has revealed that Trey told him to keep the original vocals to begin with.
He posted a video of comedian Affion Crockett’s reaction to the change and wrote,
“man y’all motherf***ers crazy TREY gonna be mad at me if y’all keep this s*** up, because he told me. We didn’t need to change it. #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac“

As for Trey, while the responses were funny at first, he said his feelings are starting to get hurt.
“yo @treysongz looked at me like, ?what you want to do to the song. I’m like let’s just update it, it’s 6 years old. He was like?ok if you say so 50.”
50 also said Trey did the song as a favor to him. And Trey added,
“N***as act like I said 50 let’s change the Power theme. ?Remember what I said when you first played it?”
