Houston Rockets Reach Extension, Re-Sign Eric Gordon To 3 Year, $54.5 Million Deal
Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon reportedly agreed to a three-year, $54.5 million extension on Friday. The guard will be a Rocket through the 2022-23 season, $16.9 million in the 2020-21 season, $18.2 million in the 2021-22 season, and $19.6 in the 2022-23 season, according to reports.
In addition, Gordon is set to make nearly $90 million of the next five seasons.
“With Gordon, 30, going into the final season of the four-year deal he signed with the Rockets as a free agent in 2016, the Rockets will sign Gordon to a four-year, $75.6 million extension, according to the individual familiar with the agreement. Including the remaining season on his contract, Gordon will earn roughly $90 million over the next five seasons.”

After signing, Gordon took to Instagram to post his commitment to the team. He says,
“Signed, sealed, delivered.”

Gordon, a former NBA ‘Sixth Man of the Year’, has averaged 16.8 points in his three seasons with the Rockets. With a new extension, Gordon will now rejoin, NBA MVP candidate James Harden, and former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook in the back court. All three guards all have signed at least through the 2022-23 season.
The Rockets are in “win now” mode as they will fight to compete in the tough Western Conference against the likes of the Lakers, Clippers, and Warriors. Keeping Gordon can certainly help over the next few years, being a quality player who understands his role.
