Jada Pinkett-Smith & Will Smith Staged An Intervention For Son Jaden After He Went Vegan: He Was Wasting Away, There Was Grayness To His Skin
While Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith are known for allowing Willow and Jaden Smith to experience independence at a very young age, it’s safe to say that the celebrity parentals are still very present in their children’s decision-making.
Will and Jada, along with their children Willow, Jaden and Will’s son Trey Smith from his previous marriage, and Jada’s mom Adrienne discuss this on Red Table Talk. While there, Will and Jada revealed they had to stage an intervention for Jaden after he went a little too far in a new eating lifestyle.
Jada said,
“Will and I had a bit of an intervention with Jaden because he’s a vegan now, but he wasn’t getting enough protein. So he was wasting away. He just looked drained, he was depleted, he wasn’t getting the nutrients.”
Will added that Jaden also had dark circles under his eyes and said,
“There was even a little grayness to his skin. We got really nervous.”
But thankfully it looks like Jaden has been able to find some sort of balance. Will added,
“You’re definitely looking better now.”
Jaden also chimed in and explained,
“I also just wanna say that I’m vegetarian, that I’ve tried to be vegan. I’m vegetarian, you know, I’ve tried to eat vegan meals. I’ll go vegan for a week or so but for the past year I’ve been vegetarian. I was just eating like two meals a day… maybe one. Maybe just that one big meal and I’m like, ‘Oh, you know, I didn’t get around to it.'”
As for Will, he went in the opposite direction and joked that he gained weight after the success of Disney’s Aladdin. He played the genie in the live-action remake that was released in May 2019.
He confessed that it was nothing for him to have four muffins in the morning when the family went on vacation. And he’d wash it down with Vodka for lunch. It got so bad that Jada and Willow gave him name “pudge muffin.” He said he weighed 225, which marked the most he had ever weighed in his adult life.
