Skylar Diggins Reveals She Played 2018 Season While Carrying Her First Child – “People Called Me A Quitter”
WNBA star, Skylar Diggins-Smith revealed on Twitter over the weekend (Oct. 19th), during her last season with the Dallas Wings, the 4-time WNBA All-Star played the entire season while pregnant. On Twitter, Diggins says she didn’t tell anyone about her pregnancy while still continuing to lead the WNBA in minutes played. She writes,
“I played the ENTIRE season pregnant last year! All star, and led league (top 3-5) in MPG, didn’t tell a soul.”

Diggins, 29, gave birth to a baby boy in the Spring, afterwards, the Dallas Wings star took two months off because of postpartum depression.

She continues, calling out her critics who say she gave up on her team while dealing with postpartum,
“People called me a quitter, said I gave up on my team, etc., etc.
Not knowing I took two FULL months away from everything because of postpartum depression. With limited resources to help me be successful mentally/physically.
But just wait though….KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY”

After making her return to practicing on a limited basis in May, Diggins missed practice because of an illness. Just one day prior to her twitter remarks, she also called out the Dallas Wings for their lack of support.
“Having no support from your own organization is unfortunate.”

Publicly, the Wings didn’t appear to be rushing her back to the court. Wings President and General Manager, Gregory Bibb stated in July,
“In terms of Skylar, that situation remains the same. It’s 100% up to Skylar. We’re going to support her and her timeline and when she says she’s ready to go, we’re going to welcome her back. Until she’s ready to go, she needs to focus on getting herself healthy and getting her family situated and feeling good about all of that.”
