Meghan Markle’s Lawsuit Against Media Outlet Addresses Private Letter To Her Father, Lavish Home Upgrades

Meghan Markle is over all of the rumors swirling about her. From her lavish baby shower in New York City to her rocky relationship with her father, Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry in May 2018, has addressed what she said are false reports concerning her personal life that were printed in the publication Mail on Sunday. She also cleared up rumors that she went above and beyond to renovate Frogmore Cottage after she and Prince Harry welcomed son Archie earlier this year. The home is rumored to have a green-energy center, a custom kitchen and landscaped gardens.

In a lawsuit against the paper and its parent company that Meghan Markle filed on Nov. 11, she denied previous reports that the cottage had a $6,500 copper bathtub, $650,000 worth of aircraft soundproofing, a personal yoga studio and a tennis court.

She also shut down rumors that it had a guest wing for her mom Doria Ragland. 

She called out the company for publishing “untrue” articles and said it wants to intentional put her in a “[negative]” light.

Meghan also took issue with the publication printing pieces of a private letter she wrote to her father, Thomas Markle, amid their troubled relationship. She said not only was it made public without her permission but that the paper

“omitted or suppressed parts of the letter amount to almost half of the actual contents.”

Court documents added,

“The omitted parts demonstrate the claimant’s care for her father and others, as well as her concern about the UK tabloid media exploiting her father.”

She denied reports that she never asked about her father’s health, or that she didn’t try to assist him financially and medically. She said the letter actually proves she

“has a long history of looking after her father’s welfare and trying to find solutions to any health problems.”

As for her NYC baby shower in April, she also shut down reports about that as well, including that Meghan’s mother didn’t get an invite.

“The claimant’s mother was of course invited, and the claimant was offered to buy her airline tickets. However, her mother was unable to attend due to work commitments.”

She went on to deny speculation that the baby shower was a result of new celebrity friendships that only sparked after she became a member of the royal family.

“The baby shower (which actually cost a tiny fraction of the $300k falsely stated in the article) was organized and hosted by one of her best friends from university. The fifteen guests who attended the shower were close friends and included long-term friendships some of which had existed for over 20 years.”

The publication has responded and plans to defend its articles. A representative said,

“There is nothing in this document which changes that position.”
