Tyler Perry Hires Man Recently Released From Prison, Was Serving Life Sentence For 2 Grams Of Cocaine Before Parole
Tyler Perry is still making dreams come true. The famed director took a break from his writer’s room to give a man recently released from prison a job.
The move was announced during an event hosted by Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard to salute the DA office’s new Conviction Integrity Unit Wednesday (Jan. 8). Paul Howard invited 52-year-old Darrell Hall to the stage. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1991 and served 13 years before being granted parole. He returned to prison two times for not paying his fines and fees, which is a parole violation before his most recent release.
Paul Howard said at the event that he was “almost ashamed” to tell the crowd that Darrell Hall was convicted for possession with intent to distribute two grams of cocaine.
Once Darrell Hall was on the stage, Howard told him that the Conviction Integrity Unit heard that Hall had a difficult time finding a job. Howard’s office reached out to Tyler Perry, who said Hall can come work for him.
Howard informed Hall,
“Mr. Perry says you can start to work on Monday.”
Meanwhile, Tyler Perry has also made headlines after he revealed he’s the only writer on all of his long-running shows like “Haves & Have Nots” and “House of Payne” as well as new series “Sistas” and “The Oval”.
After receiving lots of criticism for penning all of the shows himself, he later showed off his elegant writers room and wrote that he has no plans on slowing down.
“My writers room!!! To the millions of you who are loving what I do and watch my shows every week, don’t worry, I ain’t stopping!!! Don’t forget. The Haves and the Have Nots returns tonight on @owntv and The Oval and Sistas return tomorrow on @BET!!”
