Lil Nas X Jokingly Comes Out As “Straight” For April Fools – “I was never gay”
Lil Nas X made a shocking announce early Wednesday morning (April 1st), via Twitter. The Grammy Award winning rapper jokingly stated that his coming out was part of an elaborate April Fools’ Day gag that he’d been planning since he opened up on his sexuality back in June.
After sharing this, the 20-year-old’s tweet garnered hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets as he was greeted by a fan who joined in on the rapper’s joke. A social media follower tweets:
“Coming out as straight is so brave.”
Nas X responds,
“It’ts hard but somebody has to take a stand and lead the other straight people afraid to be themselves.”

Soon after, the “Old Town” artist admitted
“Okay I’m gay again.”

Nine months ago, Lil Nas X came out as gay. The rising star also acknowledged that his openness might cost him fans, still boldly living in his truth despite the fact. On a track, he rhymed:
“True say, I want and I need/ To let go, use my time to be free/ It’s like it’s always what you like/ It’s always what you like/ Why it’s always what you like?/ It’s always what you like, uh”
On another part of the song he says,
“Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold / This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old”

Back in September, the rapper explained on HBO’s Uninterrupted why he chose to come out during his historic 19-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. He said,
“If you’re doing this while you’re at the top, you know that it’s for real. It’s showing that it doesn’t really matter, I guess.”
