‘Ellen’ Show Employees Reportedly Livid Over Lack Of Communication Amidst Paycuts
Ellen DeGeneres’s daytime talk show employees are reportedly livid about not being told what their financial future holds.
According to reports, as of Thursday (April 16), the production staff, which includes more than 30 workers, have yet to be issued a written email or letter about what’s going on with their pay and hours. They are also said to be upset that no one has checked on their wellbeing during the coronavirus outbreak. While some workers say they’ve been able to reach staff members who are still in the office, they’re told little to no details.
The first bit of news they reportedly heard, following a 14-day blackout, was that they should prepare for a 60% pay cut. Interestingly enough the show has hired an outside company to assist Ellen DeGeneres to tape the show from her home, with the only reportedly four crew members still left standing. In fact, some claim they found out about Ellen DeGeneres taping the show from her home on social media.
Still, many of the crew members who are negatively impacted have called out Ellen DeGeneres for not living up to her iconic phrase, “Be kind.”
A WB spokesperson said,
“Our executive producers and Telepictures are committed to taking care of our staff and crew and have made decisions first and foremost with them in mind.”
A WB rep also added,
“Due to social distancing requirements, technical changes in the way the show is produced had to be made to comply with city ordinances and public health protocols.”
