‘The Best Man’ – Director Malcolm D. Lee Hints At 3rd Film Coming Sooner Than Later
The long-awaited third installment of The Best Man could be in the works. Filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee, who is known for many fan favorites including Girls Trip, Night School, and Barbershop, eluded to a follow-up of 2013’s The Best Man Holiday sequel on Twitter.
He responded to a Twitter user who wrote:
“Dearest @Malcomdlee,
It’s been 7 years since “The Best Man Holiday.” Are you going to make us wait another 20 years for the third installment?”
To which Malcolm D. Lee responded,
“No, I will not.”
The Best Man Holiday was a tear-jerker for fans who have been along the journey with the cast since it’s inception in 1999.
The film ended with Mia, played by Monica Calhoun, passing away after becoming terminally ill with cancer. Conceivably, after 7 years the audience desires to see what’s since happened in the lives of the remaining characters.
And it could be more than a film.
The Best Man lead Taye Diggs said on Instagram back in March that The Best Man may become a TV Series. He even said the
“script has already been written”.

There’s still no word from the remaining cast members on any updates regarding the making or release of any upcoming projects surrounding The Best Man.
