Ice Cube Cancels ‘GMA’ Appearance In Wake Of George Floyd Death: I’m In No Mood To Tell America Good Morning

Rapper and actor Ice Cube took to Twitter Thursday (May 28th) to officially cancel an appearance on an episode of Good Morning America. In the tweet, Ice Cube referenced the recent death of Minnesota resident and father of two George Floyd:

I apologize to everyone expecting to see me on Good Morning America today, but after the events in Minnesota with George Floyd I’m in no mood to tell America, good morning.

George Floyd, a 46-year-old restaurant security employee, was arrested by Minneapolis police in response to an incident regarding a counterfeit bill received at a market. The viral video of George Floyd‘s arrest and detainment by police has sparked national outrage as Floyd can be heard pleading for his life.

As a result, many have spoken out regarding the incident, including former NBA star Stephen Jackson who was close with George Floyd:

“Man you know, it’s like – and this gon’ sound f*cked up and I want it to sound f*cked up – I want it to sound f*cked up cause it is f*cked up. You just take my boy life and what we suppose to do? What his family supposed to do? Just move on? Hope you go to jail – hope they punish you for killing my boy? Why we can’t just kill you? That’s the justice we want cause we can’t get nothing back so the cops should die too. Ya’ll just killing people for no reason.”
