Ciara To Her Son: I Pray That When You Get Older A CHANGE Will Finally Have Come!
Ciara Writes Heartfelt Message To Her Son: I Pray That When You Get Older A CHANGE Will Finally Have Come!
In the midst of ongoing protests for justice for George Floyd, singer Ciara writes a message to her son, Future, about praying for better times. On May 25, George Floyd, an unarmed man, was killed after an officer was recorded with his knee on Floyd’s neck, during his arrest. Since then, protests, both peaceful and violent, have erupted across the country as people are seeking justice against the officers involved. Many protestors have been arrested, beaten, hit with rubber bullets, and even sprayed with tear gas.
Ciara and husband Russell Wilson are now, both speaking out racial injustice and hopes for a change. Ciara’s post, however, is much more personal as she wrote a message to her six-year-old son, Future, on Instagram. Underneath the post, which featured a picture of Ciara and baby Future together, she wrote:
My sweet Baby Boy. I pray that when you get older A CHANGE will finally have come!! I’m going to keep my FAITH! I’m praying that the losses of our Black Kings and Queens won’t be in vain. Enough is Enough! I’m praying for UNITY! I’m raying for the powers that be to unite and decide that it’s time for a change!
Russell Wilson delivered a broader spoke that spoke to the black community as a whole.
In one section, Wilson asked:
“What do you really want? Do you want your kids to go to school without fear? Do you want your grandchildren to have a dream? I want my kids and your kids to have a dream they can earn- earn with hard work, love, and compassion for others. However, I hope and pray their dreams and opportunities aren’t blocked by the fears and pain caused by racism […] We can make a change. WE MUST MAKE A CHANGE. BLACK LIVES MATTER. God loves color. He loves us all. He loves you. He loves me.”
