Raven Symone Says Taking Hiatus From Show Business Helped Her With Her Sexuality
Actress and singer Raven-Symone got candid in a recent interview about her sexuality and the journey it took for her to come to terms with her true self. In a recent interview, Raven-Symone revealed that when she took a hiatus from the film industry back in 2013, it was then that she really grew to understand her sexuality. The 34 year old actress says,
“What it [hiatus] did was help me with my sexuality, I actually had time to think for myself and no one to tell me differently. It helped me realize that I’m kind of addicted to the industry because of the fact I had been in it for so long. I had to transform that addiction into something that is positive for me because I was getting very toxic to myself and others.”
This revelation comes as she also revealed back in May in an interview with Garcelle Beauvais, that she was afraid for her mom to see her portray a lesbian in a film project called ‘A Girl Like Grace’,
“I was scared. I was scared for my mom to see it. I was scared for my mom to see me kiss a girl on screen.”
Garcelle then asked:
“How was that?”
Raven responded by saying:
That was a lot of mixed emotions that I’m still ironing out. Nothing wrong with it, it’s just when I watch it, I see the clip where I’m shaking and it’s like my legs spread open. I’m like ‘Oh My gosh!’”

Raven-Symone is now more comfortable with herself and even revealed last month that she married her longtime girlfriend Miranda Maday, in an intimate ceremony.
“I got married to a woman who understands me from trigger to joy, from breakfast to midnight snack, from stage to home. I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday! Let’s tear this world a new a**hole!!!”
