Migos Rapper Takeoff Denies Rape Allegations Against Him
Update #2 (Aug. 6th): Migos rapper Takeoff has released a statement, via his lawyer, to adamantly deny the sexual assault accusations against him.
His lawyer, Drew Finding said in a statement with TMZ:
“We have reviewed the allegations and have similarly done our own due diligence. What has become abundantly clear is that the allegations made against Takeoff are patently and provably false. The claims and statements made regarding this lawsuit indicate that the plaintiffs’ representatives have not spoken with relevant witnesses or reviewed available evidence.”
He continued,
“Takeoff is renowned for his artistic talent as well as his quiet, reserved and peaceful personality. In this instance, those known personality traits have made him a target of an obvious exploitative money grab. As his counsel, we are well aware and well versed on the importance of civil and criminal prosecution of true sexual assaults. This is not one of those situations.”
The LAPD is currently investigating the case.
Original Story: According to reports, a woman is suing rapper Takeoff (real name Kirshnik Khari Ball) after claiming he raped her at a L.A. party in June (2020).
In the lawsuit, Jane Doe (her identity is protected as is customary for similar lawsuits) states that 26-year-old Migos’ rapper stared at her while at the party and that reportedly made her very uncomfortable. She was allegedly invited to the event by Daryl McPherson, a D.J., producer and engineer for the Migos. She added that Takeoff offered her marijuana later in the night, but she declined. Afterwards, things went south between the two, according to the documents.
Jane Doe claims that when she and D.J. were walking upstairs, they encountered Takeoff, who was coming downstairs. She states that Takeoff was pissed. She then reportedly proceeded to go upstairs and wait for D.J. in his room, while he engaged in an argument with the rapper.
She claims that is when Takeoff entered the room and began inappropriately touching her body. When she made her lack of interest known to the rapper, he allegedly turned her over face-down, pulled down her clothes, and began physically assaulting her. The documents reports that afterwards, the rapper immediately left the room.
After gathering herself together from the initial shock, Jane Doe says she allegedly went to a nearby hospital the same day as the incident. She claims that when being examined, the hospital staff found “physical evidence of forceful rape”, which they reportedly told to the Los Angeles Police Department. A spokeswoman for the department said that an investigation had been opened. However, Neama Rahmani, the lawyer for Jane Doe, claims the police have not spoken to the woman since responding to the local hospital in June.
Jane Doe is now suing for sexual battery, assault, emotional distress and more. Reps for Takeoff have yet to respond to the woman’s claims.
