Johnny Nash, ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ Singer, Dead At 80 [CONDOLENCES]
American singer/songwriter Johnny Nash, who was known for his hit song “I Can See Clearly Now,” has passed away at the age of 80. According to reports, Johnny Nash, born John Lester Nash Jr., passed away on Tuesday, October 6th in his home in Houston, Texas. He reportedly died from natural causes.
Johnny Nash started his music career in the 1950s and launched his own music label, The JAD label, in 1965. In 1972 he released his hit song “I Can See Clearly Now.” The song reached number 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts. Throughout his entertainment career, he also worked as an actor and has four acting credits in film and television.

His 1975 song “Tears On My Pillow” topped the charts in the U.K.

He also reportedly had a hand in helping Bob Marley sign a recording contract. Johnny Nash also helped showcase Bob Marley’s music to a larger audience after covering his songs like “Stir It Up.”
Johnny Nash is survived by his two children, Johnny Jr. Nash, and Monica Nash. As well as his wife, Carli Nash.
