Cardi B Apologizes After Promoting Fundraiser for Armenia Amid War With Azerbaijan

Cardi B was in the hot seat and received a ton of backlash from fans after she promoted a virtual fundraiser for Armenia amid the nation’s ongoing conflict with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh territory. On October 6th Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, posted an ad to her Instagram story informing her millions of followers of a fundraiser in support of Armenia. Azerbaijanis fans were left offended by her post and felt that the ‘WAP’ rapper was picking a side in a war that has unfortunately left many people dead. The hashtag #cardibsupportsterrorism was created and people shared their disappointment with Cardi B for the ad she shared to her IG stories.

Cardi B responded to someone who tweeted that she supports terrorism and apologized for posting the ad. She also explained that she shared the ad before doing her own research on the matter. She said,

“Stfu I don’t support terrorism.I literally posted it for my friend with out doing no research on what’s going on .Im sorry about that .I don’t like war .I don’t like conflicts between two countries period cause I hate innocent people being affected by it.”

Cardi B also posted two voice memos and further explained why she shared the ad in the first place. She Said,

“Yesturday [me and Offset] was trying to sell a property that we have in Atlanta…and our consultant is Armenian and he was really in distress because he was saying that there is a lot of terrible genocides going on in his country. And he said can we please post something for a good cause for Armenia?”

She continued,

“And we said ‘sure why not’ because we love to support everybody. And then I wake up and I see a lot of people from Azerbaijan, is you know, writing me things, writing me stuff and I did not know that this is a war between two countries.”

She added,

“My wish is that both the countries would just be at peace.”

In her second voice memo she said,

“I’m not picking sides. I love both the countries and I’m sorry that I offended anybody. That is not my style.

She also shared another video online apologizing again and explained why she initially posted the ad one final time.
