Cynthia Bailey Defends Having 250 Wedding Guests Amid COVID-19, Says Nene Leakes Is Invited
COVID-19 has put plenty of things on hold or even canceled them indefinitely. But one thing that’s still happening is “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey’s wedding to Mike Hill. After the reality star contemplated whether she wanted to push back the wedding due to the pandemic, she’s decided to move forward with their original date and will be tying the knot on Saturday (Oct. 10th).
The guest list has 250 confirmed guests, including her co-stars Kenya Moore, Kandi Burruss, and Eva Marcille who are serving as bridesmaids.

During a recent interview, Cynthia Bailey spoke on hosting a large wedding in the heat of COVID-19.
“Weddings are stressful. For me, the most stress for Mike and I has just been making sure that we’re not only following the rules and regulations but just also putting people in place to enforce them. We’re having a large wedding. To be honest, everything that we’re doing for our wedding, 10/10/20, we would be doing if we had 50 people there. We would still be doing temperature checks, still be enforcing masks and face shields because, at the end of the day, you can get COVID at anytime, regardless of the amount of people you’re around. Everything is still a go.”
She said their intense restrictions nearly scared their guests as they told them there would be security in place to make sure everyone was following the regulations.
She said in a separate interview that they’re taking COVID-19 very seriously for the event, which will be held at the Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga. Seating will be provided indoors and outdoors and adhere to social distancing rules. She added:
“Instead of focusing on the accessories in my hair or what kind of food we’re going to have, Mike and I have been putting most of our wedding energy into COVID-19 protocols. And we ain’t playin’ around.”
“If anyone doesn’t adhere to the rules, then they’re just going to be asked to leave. We’re taking this seriously, we want to protect ourselves and our guests.”
She continued:
“We set up the food stations taking all of this into consideration, and you don’t have to sit at a table with people you don’t know, you can kind of move around. It’s a huge space, so you can be as far away from people as you want while still feeling connected to the ceremony.”
She added that her former friend Nene Leakes is invited despite their recent fallout.
“Honestly, with everything going on as far as her leaving the show, I wasn’t sure how comfortable she’d be attending the wedding knowing she has issues [with Bravo]. You just never know what someone is going through, but she’s still more than welcome to come.”
She continued:
Regardless of where NeNe and I are in our relationship, she was good for the show. I’m always going to give her her props for that, you can’t take away all she’s done for the Atlanta franchise.”
Nene Leakes hasn’t RSVP’d yet.
