Kim Fields On A ‘Living Single’ Reboot: You Can’t Just Start Rebooting Something So Amazing & Iconic
The 90’s sitcom Living Single debuted in 1993 and successfully ran for 5 seasons. Now, Living Single star Kim Fields has opened up about the possibility of a reboot. She tells Shadow & Act that the show was so iconic, if a reboot were to happen it would have to be done right.
“First of all, you can’t just mess around and just start rebooting something, you know especially if that something was so amazing and iconic and a gamechanger the first go-round.”
She added that a reboot would need to make sure it stays true to where the characters would be in their lives in the present day.
“[Series creator Yvette Lee Bowser] created…lightning in a bottle. So for this next go-round, we want to make sure we are true to the characters, true to where they would be…we have to be true to what you expect from the brand of Living Single.”
Kim Fields also adds that it is hard to get all of the people in the cast together at once, as they are all working on their own projects.
She also spoke on filming the last season without T.C. Carson, who played Kyle Barker.
“It was very difficult doing the last season without T.C.
“With Living Single, we spent four years together, so that family dynamic changed and none of us really saw it coming. It was very difficult personally, professionally, creatively…just know we never stopped being a family behind the scenes and off-camera.”
T.C. Carson previously told Comedy Hype that he was fired after he expressed issues with the show, like characterization stereotypes and how the series was marketed.
