Rapper Casanova Raises $2.5 Million For Bail In An Attempt To Be Released From Jail
Brooklyn rapper Casanova (real name Caswell Senior) is hoping to be released from prison sooner than expected. On Saturday (Jan.2), Casanova’s lawyer presented a bail package to the court to free the rapper, who has been in jail since December 4th. He turned himself in for allegedly taking part in a gang related racketeering case. Reportedly, he is a member of Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation gang. Casanova’s charges include; conspiracy to commit racketeering, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He is currently being held at The Westchester County Jail, in Valhalla, New York.

U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a statement,
“As alleged in the Indictment, members of Gorilla Stone committed terrible acts of violence, trafficked in narcotics, and even engaged in brazen fraud by exploiting benefits programs meant to provide assistance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
She added,
“Because of that, communities across the Southern District—from Poughkeepsie to Peekskill to New York City—suffered. Most shocking, as alleged in the indictment, a minor was murdered in furtherance of the gang’s activities. Because of the extraordinary work of our law enforcement partners, the defendants now face federal charges for their crimes.”
The 34-year-old rapper is now offering to put up a total of $2.5 million as part of a bond package. His lawyer James Kousouros stated,
“We propose that Mr. Senior be released on a bond in the amount of $2,500,000.00 secured by the five properties and thirteen co-signors.”
Casanova is putting up five properties and thirteen co-signors. The properties are worth about $1,103,669, while the co-signers vouching for the rapper have combined salaries of approximately $1,266,145. The co-signors guarantee Casanova will show up for his trial should he be released from jail.

Casanova’s attorney, James Kousouros says the rapper has demonstrated respect for the legal system by surrendering,
“The notion that he would surrender to the authorities with full knowledge of the charges against him but then not return to court as directed once released is inconsistent with his voluntary surrender and common sense. His surrender demonstrates his respect for this court and the judicial process and there can be no credible argument that he presents a risk of flight.”
Reportedly, Casanova is willing to surrender to home detention, restrictions on his travel, electronic monitoring, and the surrender of his passport. He denies drug trafficking and possessing a weapon in relation to any criminal activity.
