‘Power’ Star Michael Rainey, Jr. Claims Cop Almost Shot Him: I Swear That Camera Saved My Life [VIDEO]
Michael Rainey, Jr., known for his role as Tariq St. Patrick in Power and its spinoff, Power Book II: Ghost, has shared what could have been a fatal encounter with a police officer.
In the clip posted to his Instagram stories Friday (March 26th), the police officer is seen bending down into the window and saying,
“Just give me the license.”
Michael Rainey, Jr. points out in the caption,
“This guy was bout to shoot me I swear that camera saved my life. Look what he does as soon as he looks into the lens. someone please send me his precinct or whatever if you know. These power tripping a** police need they badge taken. Unlawful traffic stop.”

He added,
“Didn’t even pull me over. Didn’t tell me what I was being pulled over for. Just came to whip yelling and s*** wit his hand on his gun. This guy also said stop reaching while I was looking for my license, I guess he was tryna come up with a reason to shoot me.”
In another story, he said,
“Can’t be black in this world with a nice car. That’s why we gotta keep being black and keep getting nice cars…”
The incident came as Power Book II: Ghost won a handful of NAACP Image Awards.
Mary J. Blige won for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, while Method Man won Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series. The show also took home the Oustanding Drama Series award.
