Nick Young Criticizes Lil Nas X For His ‘Satan Shoes’: “My Kids Will Never Play Old Town Road Again” + Lil Nas X Responds

Lil Nas X is making headlines after the release of his new music video “Montero” (Call Me By Your Name). In the video the 21-year-old rapper/singer is seduced out of what appears to be the Garden of Eden, falls into hell and gives the devil a lap dance. The video has garnered mixed reactions, some praising the star for expressing his sexuality and being creative while others found it highly offensive and even demonic.

The release of his latest single coincides with his new collaboration with streetwear company MSCHF on a pair of “Satan Shoes”.  The controversial sneakers are a modified Nike Air Max 97s and are decorated with a pentagram pendant and a reference to Luke 10:18, a Bible verse about Satan’s fall from heaven. The sneakers also contain a drop of human blood in the sole, drawn from members of the MSCHF team. They will be sold for $1,018.

Retired NBA player Nick Young wasn’t too fond of the “Satan Shoes” and took to Twitter to share this thoughts. He wrote,

“My kids will never play Old Town road again. I’m still debating about wearing @Nike after this come nike a drop of blood for real.”

With the release of the “Satan Shoes” causing major controversy, Nike quickly spoke out and clarified that they are not directly tied to the collaboration. In a statement released by the company, they said,

“We do not have a relationship with Little Nas X or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them.”

Lil Nax X caught wind of Young’s tweet and had a message of his own. In a sarcastic response, he said,

“They shouldn’t be playing old town road anyway, we streaming call me by your name now.”

Nick Young seems to have had a change of heart and later issues an apology to both Nike and Lil Nas X. He apologized first to Nike after he realized they were not apart of the “Satan Shoes” collaboration.

Shortly after, he addressed Lil Nas X, asking for forgiveness but also claimed that hackers played a part in his tweets.

“I dnt want know SMOKE! imma say it first I AM SORRY @LilNasX I HOPE y’all believe in that kinda thing forgiveness … these Hackers keep getting me they need to stop”
