Kevin Durant Fined $50,000 For ‘Threatening’ Rant Posted By Michael Rapaport, Actor Says ‘I Feel Bad’

Kevin Durant’s messages for comedian Michael Rapaport will literally cost him.

According to new reports, the Brooklyn Nets forward will have to pay $50,000 for the language he used against the actor during a social media rant.

Earlier this week, Michael Rapaport posted screenshots of DMs from Kevin Durant, which Michael Rapaport called “threatening.”

The NBA’s President of League Operations Byron Spruell announced the fine against Kevin Durant Friday (April 2nd).

Rapaport responded and said in a social media video,

“This situation with Durant has gotten out of hand. I feel bad about it. I feel bad about my involvement in the situation. I feel bad that it’s gotten this far. I met him one time, it was cool, cordial. I’m a fan. I met him as a fan…The funny thing is, he actually reached out to me about doing something that I call on social media, The Shame Game, about putting people who talk s*** on social media on blast. That was the way we met.”

He continued,

“It’s not the first time I’ve posted people’s DMs. It’s funny when people are saying anti-semitic things about me, saying racist things about me, threatening me, and they’re Joe Schmoes, everybody loves it. But when it’s Durant… I’m a rat.”

He said he hasn’t seen Durant since the two first met.

“I don’t consider him a friend. The way he was talking to me is not like a person who is a friend. I don’t speak to friends like that. I don’t banter with friends, telling them ‘Yo when I see you I’m gonna spit in your face! Hahaha. Oh cool! When you spit in my face, I’m gonna swish around and spit in your face.’ That’s not the way I banter. That’s not the way I bulls***… Those are threats. They were made over and over and over… on Tuesday of this week he caught me on a bad day.”

He said the whole ordeal was “blown out of proportion”, adding that he doesn’t “premeditate” the things he does on social media.

Durant, who hasn’t hit the court since Feb. 13 due to a hamstring injury, addressed the viral posts during a press conference earlier this week.

“I’m sorry that people seen that language I used. That’s not really what I want people to see and hear from me. But hopefully, I can move past it and get back out there on the floor.”
