‘Bridgerton’ Renewed For Seasons 3 & 4 Amid News Regé-Jean Page Isn’t Returning
The show is going on without Duke Simon Basset.
While it was reported earlier this month that Regé-Jean Page was leaving Bridgerton after its first season, the Shondaland hit has already been renewed for its third and fourth seasons.
Bela Bajaria, the vice president of global TV at Netflix, said in a statement:
?‘Bridgerton’ swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda [Rhimes], knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the ‘Bridgerton’ business for a long time to come.”
Production for Bridgerton’s sophomore season has already begun.
Bridgerton marks Shonda Rhimes’ first project in her overall deal with the streaming platform. It was viewed in 82 million households after it debuted on Netflix on Christmas Day last year.
The show’s resident gossip Lady Whistledown announced Regé-Jean Page’s exit via Instagram on April 2nd.
The actor commented,
“It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege! Joining this family – the connection on and off screen, with our cast, our crew, all the incredible fans, has been like nothing I could have ever imagined – the love is real and will just keep growing”
Kim Kardashian West mirrored many fans’ reactions and also commented,
“Wait!!! WHAT????”
