Lamar Odom Says Kobe Bryant Wanted To Help Him W/ Gambling Debt

In One Of Their Final Conversations

Lamar Odom is remembering his former Lakers teammate and friend, Kobe Bryant. 

He revealed just how close they were during an appearance on Matt Barnes’ and Stephen Jackson’s podcast All The Smoke. 

Lamar Odom said he had racked up a massive gambling debt and called Kobe Bryant to help him out.

He explained,

“I had been gambling. It got a little too steep for where I was at at that time. It was getting tight. And if you in a bad situation, especially about some money, [Bryant] ain’t the one that you gonna wanna call.”

He continued,

“I gathered up the strength. I put my pride to the side, and I gave him a call.”

He said Kobe Bryant first scolded him for getting into the situation, then said he wanted to help.

“After he went in, he was just like, ‘Have your people call my people, and we’ll figure it out.'”

Lamar Odom added that was one of the last times they talked before Kobe Bryant’s untimely death.

“That was one before the last time that I spoke to him.”

Kobe Bryant sadly passed away on Jan. 26, 2020. He and his daughter Gianna Bryant were two of nine victims in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif.
