Oprah Was ‘Surprised’ By Content Of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Interview: ‘What? You’re Going There? You’re Going All The Way There’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s exposé on the royal family shocked the world–and it appears as though that includes the interviewer, Oprah Winfrey, herself!

As previously reported, Oprah Winfrey‘s March 7th sit-down with the couple shed light on what allegedly goes on behind the closed doors of Buckingham Palace. One such allegation included royal speculation regarding the complexion of Price Harry and Meghan Markle‘s son, Archie, on account of Meghan Markle being biracial.

While recently promoting her new book What Happened to You? Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing, Oprah Winfrey‘s interview with Prince Harry and Meghan was mentioned. Oprah revealed that–despite being the interviewer–she originally did not know that her  interview with Harry and Meghan would rock the world in the way it did, claiming:

“I had no idea that it would have the reverberating impact that it has had and continues to have”

In response to the question of whether or not she was surprised at just how much Harry and Meghan were willing to share, Oprah responded:

“Yeah, I was surprised… I [was] like ‘what? You’re going there? You’re going all the way there.'”

She continued,

“The reason why it was such a powerful interview…what makes it powerful is when you have somebody else who is willing to be as open, as vulnerable, [and] as truthful as they were. The reason the interview was what it was because they answered the way they did.”
