Vanessa Bryant Criticized By L.A. County For Posting Names Of Deputies Who Photographed Kobe Bryant’s Crash Site
Vanessa Bryant has not been happy with Los Angeles County lately–but it appears as though the feeling is mutual!
Allegations against first responders swirled last year as several were accused of taking and sharing photos of the helicopter crash that took Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and seven other victims’ lives. Later, Vanessa Bryant pursued legal action and filed a lawsuit with the L.A. County Sherriff’s Department. It is also worth noting that Vanessa Bryant‘s lawsuit helped inspire California governor Gavin Newsom to sign a new bill that made it illegal for first responders to take unauthorized photos of deceased people.
In response to Vanessa Bryant‘s lawsuit, Judge John F. Walter ruled that she could learn the identities of the deputies who disrespected Kobe and Gianna Bryant by taking and sharing photos of their deceased bodies. Shortly thereafter, Vanessa proceeded to post various images of the legal docs on Instagram, including the four deputies’ names. See her post here.
L.A. County is now claiming that she went too far. Attorneys representing the county of Los Angeles wrote in court documents:
“This straightforward case, with undisputed facts, has turned into a fishing expedition that is taking first responders away from their jobs — and subjecting them to public harassment and threats. Defendants are eager to have their day in Court and put an end to this.”
Vanessa Bryant has not yet publicly commented on the criticism levied against her by L.A. County.
