Wendy Williams Says Staff Didn’t Want Her To Post Her Feet On Social Media: They’re Going To Be Mean To You
Yesterday [May 20th], Wendy Williams shared with the world a rare photo of an ongoing chronic foot condition she’s been battling with called lymphedema.
According to Prevention.com, lymphedema is swelling that occurs when lymph, a fluid that has white blood cells to battle germs, is collected in soft body tissues.
In a post-and-delete, Wendy Williams shared the photo and captioned,
“My Dr. Laure is the French lady who’s helping me live with lymphedema. She scrubs & understands my disease is not curable only manageable.”
Later, on The Wendy Williams Show, Wendy shared with the audience that her staff was scared for her to reveal the photo publicly.
“When I posted my feet yesterday, there was a whole big deal in the IT department here. They asked, ‘Are you sure you want to post this?’ They’re going to be mean to you. I don’t think you should do it.”
After the photo hadn’t posted, Wendy called her staff hours later and asked,
“Why is my picture not up?”
She added:
“I will not send another picture until you post this picture. This is me with lymphedema.”
After the photo was posted, she said, “the total opposite happened.” Viewers showed lots of love and support for what Wendy is physically enduring and being brave enough to share. People with lymphedema came forward to stand in solidarity with Wendy’s experience, and fans who were unaware the condition existed were open to understanding and learning more about it.
