Black Mafia Family Co-Founder Big Meech To Be Released From Prison 3 Years Early
Good news for Big Meech of Black Mafia Family.
A judge has granted his motion for a reduced sentence, and he will be released three years early.
According to All Hip Hop, U.S. District Judge David M. Lawson lowered the sentence from 360 months to 324 months. He was initially scheduled to be released from Sheridan FCI in Oregon on November 25, 2031. But now, his release date is set for 2028.
Big Meech (born Demetrius Edward Flenory) was convicted of operating a national Continual Criminal Enterprise, and Conspiracy To Launder Money Instruments. The scam started in the 90s and brought in more than $270 million. Federal agents shut down BMF in 2007.
While his brother Southwest T’s jail time was previously cut short because of his risk of getting COVID-19, the excuse didn’t work for Big Meech as he was previously denied his request for early release four times.
But this time around, he was granted his request as he’s completed the requirements for a sentence reduction under USSG amendments 782 ad 788. The changes can impact cases before Nov. 1, 2014, such as Big Meech’s.
While behind bars he got his GED and finished a special management program that took two years to complete. He also completed health awareness, money management, and parenting courses. He previously said he hopes to transform BMF into a new initiative called Build More Families.
Meanwhile, his life story will be told through 50 Cent’s upcoming series BMF.
