Britney Spears Says She’s Unable To Have More Children Because Conservatorship Forces Her To Be On Birth Control + Justin Timberlake Shares His Support

Britney Spears is speaking out about how her 13-year-long conservatorship has affected her personal freedom and well-being.

Yesterday (Wednesday, June 23rd), Britney Spears had a court hearing regarding her conservatorship, which she was placed on back in 2008. As a result, her father–Jamie Spears–was made the permanent conservator of her estate and personal affairs. However, the singer is alleging that the drawn-out conservatorship is ultimately “doing [her] way more harm than good.” She claimed:

“I would like to progressively move forward and I want to have the real deal. I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself so I don’t get pregnant. They don’t want me to have children–any more children. This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life! I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break and do what I want to do.”

At the same hearing, Jamie Spears‘ lawyer read a prepared statement on his behalf, saying in part:

“[Jamie] is sorry to see his daughter in so much pain. [He] loves his daughter and misses her very much.”

However, Britney Spears continued to reveal how the conservatorship has affected her, stating:

“It’s demoralizing what I’ve been through. I’ve never said it openly–I never thought anyone would believe me. I’m not lying. I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years and it’s been enough. I want to be able to be heard. I’ve kept this in for so long–it’s not good for my heart. I’ve been so angry and I cry every day. For my sanity… I need to get it off my heart. The anger, all of it. The main reason why I’m here today is I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated.”

Later that day, Britney Spears‘ ex-boyfriend–Justin Timberlake–took to Twitter to show his support. He tweeted:

“After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time. Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body.”

He continued and said he and his wife, actress Jessica Biel,

” send our love, and our absolute support to Britney during this time. We hope the courts, and her family make this right  and let her live however she wants to live.”

Her current boyfriend, Sam Asghari, also shared his support via Instagram, donning a white tee-shirt that appears to read “FREE BRITNEY.”
