Britney Spears Issues Statement Following Conservatorship Hearing: I Apologize For Pretending Like I’ve Been Ok The Past 2 Years
Britney Spears is continuing to share her truth.
This past Wednesday (June 25th), pop icon Britney Spears had a court hearing regarding her conservatorship. She was initially placed under the conservatorship–which granted her father, Jamie Spears, power over her assets–back in 2008, meaning Britney Spears has not had power over her own estate for the past 13 years.
However, the strict terms of her 13-year-long conservatorship have now been made public. As previously reported, the mom of two revealed that she was barred from getting pregnant under the conservatorship, claiming she has an IUD because “They don’t want me to have… any more children”:
“I would like to progressively move forward and I want to have the real deal. I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself so I don’t get pregnant. They don’t want me to have children–any more children. This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life! I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break and do what I want to do.”
Additionally, Britney Spears revealed she was unaware that she could petition the lengthy conservatorship, and that she believes those involved should face legal action. Sadly, she also revealed that she was faking her happiness for the world to see, saying:
“I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy. It’s a lie. I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. Fake it ’til you make it, but now I’m telling you the truth, OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry every day.”
After her conservatorship hearing, Britney Spears addressed this last point on her Instagram page. She posted a picture with an Albert Einstein quote regarding the importance of fairy tales, accompanied by a lengthy caption. She wrote:
“I just want to tell you guys a little secret… I believe as people we all want the fairy tale life and by the way I’ve posted… my life seems to look and be pretty amazing… I think that’s what we all strive for!!!! That was one of my mother’s best traits… no matter how s****y a day was when I was younger… for the sake of me and my siblings she always pretended like everything was ok. I’m bringing this to people’s attention because I don’t want people to think my life is perfect because IT’S DEFINITELY NOT AT ALL… and if you have read anything about me in the news this week… you obviously know now it’s not!!!!”
She continued:
“I apologize for pretending like I’ve been ok the past two years… I did it because of my pride and I was embarrassed to share what happened to me… but honestly who doesn’t want to capture their Instagram in a fun light!!!! Believe it or not pretending that I’m ok has actually helped… so I decided to post this quote today because by golly if you’re going through hell.. I feel like my Instagram has helped me have a cool outlet to share my presence… existence… and to simply feel like I matter despite what I was going through and hey it worked… so I’ve decided to start reading more fairy tales”

Following her conservatorship hearing and Instagram statement, Britney Spears appears to have received a massive amount of public support.
