Charles Barkley Wants Sports Leagues To Make It Mandatory For Players To Get COVID-19 Vaccine: People Who Are Not Vaccinated Are Just A**holes
Charles Barkley recently shared some controversial comments regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
Yesterday (Tuesday, July 27th), reports began circulating regarding some opinions that Charles Barkley shared about the COVID-19 vaccine. Specifically, the former NBA star-turned-sports analyst stated that he believed sports leagues should make it mandatory for players to get vaccinated. The Hall of Famer began by proclaiming:
“Yes, I’m vaccinated. Everybody should be vaccinated. Period. The only people who are not vaccinated are just a**holes.”
Charles Barkley then followed this statement up by adding that his opinion was solely about keeping others safe. He stated:
“Can you imagine if one of these guys that are not vaccinated, if they get one of these players’ kids, wives, girlfriends, moms and dads sick and they die over some unnecessary conspiracy bulls**t? I think that would be tragic.”
He continued:
“There’s s— you can’t do at work and there’s s— that have to do at work. So every workplace has rules and I think one of the rules [should be] that guys [in sports leagues] have to be vaccinated.”
Barkley’s opinions come amid a nationwide debate over whether people should be required to get vaccinated. Additionally, it comes in the face of the NFL, NBA, and MLB not requiring their players–who are often in close contact with others–to get vaccinated. However, it is reported that around 90% of NBA players, 85% of MLB athletes, and 80% of NFL stars have received at least 1 dose of the vaccine.
Barkley‘s comments come just a few days after he expressed similar sentiments on Twitter. This past Friday (July 23rd), he tweeted:
“Sick of all these b****es not getting vaccinated, if you’ve ever done coke, taken a pill, or eaten a** and you die unvaccinated of covid imma dribble a ball on your grave.”
