LeBron James Confirms He Is Vaccinated But Says ‘That’s Not My Job’ To Encourage Others

LeBron James is getting candid about his stance on urging others to get vaccinated. During Lakers’ media day on September 28, 2021, the NBA star opened up about his stance on the COVID-19 vaccine and encouraging others to get it.

The NBA all-star explained he was initially skeptical of getting the shot but did so after doing his own research. However, for others, he said,

“We’re talking about individuals’ bodies. We’re not talking about something that’s political, or racism, or police brutality. Things of that nature. We’re talking about people’s bodies and well-being.”

He continued,

“So, I don’t feel like, for me personally, that I should get involved in what other people should do for their bodies and their livelihoods.”

James added,

“You have to do what’s best for your family. So I know what I did for me and my family. I know some of my friends and what they did for their families. But as far as speaking for everybody and their individualities and things that they want to do, I don’t feel like that…that’s not my job.” 

On the Laker’s team becoming 100% vaccinated, the champion also reiterated that he would have liked it to be an individual choice for everyone.

Last week Rob Pelinka—the general manager and vice president of basketball operations for the L.A. Lakers said the entire team will be vaccinated by the season opener.

“On opening night, all of the players that are currently signed on our roster will be deemed fully vaccinated. We’re grateful for that.”
