Bill Cosby Due In Court This April To Face Civil Lawsuit, Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 15-Year-Old At Playboy Mansion In 1974
Bill Cosby is due back in the courtroom!
Back in late June, Bill Cosby was released from prison after serving almost three years. He was imprisoned after being found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman back in 2004, and many other women accused the 84-year-old of doing the same to them over the years. However, the guilty verdict was ultimately overturned thanks to an agreement Bill Cosby made with former D.A. Bruce Castor. Resultingly, the disgraced comedian is currently free and going about his life.

However, despite his guilty verdict being overturned, Bill Cosby has another legal matter to deal with. According to recent reports, Bill Cosby is due in court this upcoming April over a seven-year-old civil lawsuit. Back in late 2014, a woman named Judy Huth accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her in 1974 when she was only 15 years old. Judy Huth claims she met Bill Cosby, then aged 37, on a film set. She then says that–a few days later–Bill Cosby allegedly gave her alcohol, invited her to the Playboy Mansion, and sexually assaulted her.
While the civil lawsuit was filed in 2014, it was effectively placed on the backburner when Bill Cosby faced criminal charges. However, Cosby now has to face the legal matter in the courtroom. A trial date has been set for April 18th, 2022.
Bill Cosby‘s attorney, Andrew Wyatt, released a statement on the matter:
“It was made clear to [the judge] and the opposing counsel that Mr. Cosby would be invoking his Fifth Amendment privileges to 95% of the questions that would be posed to him. The only thing he will answer are his name, birthday, age and address.”
He continued, alleging the lawsuit is fueled by racist sentiment:
“This civil lawsuit brought forward by Ms. Judy Huth is baked with some of the worst ingredients that has plagued the country for over 400 plus years–RACISM. We will show that Ms. Huth has a long history of racism in her life against Black Men. We feel that if/when a jury is selected and they hear that Ms. Huth referenced Black people and people of color as N-words and she felt that Black people and people of color are inhuman to White people, [they’ll throw the case out]. Again, [Judy Huth] is not a person who is a victim of sexual assault, but this is a person who joined a bandwagon of allegation against a successful and wealthy Black Man in America.”
