A number of former NBA stars have recently found themselves in hot water due to an alleged multi-million-dollar fraud scheme!
Earlier today (Thursday, Oct. 7th), news broke that 18 former NBA players were arrested for their alleged involvement in a health insurance fraud scheme. NBC investigative reporter Tom Winter largely circulated the story through Twitter, initially revealing:
“BREAKING: 18 former NBA players have been arrested and charged federally for defrauding the NBA’s Health and Welfare Benefit Plan out of approximately $4,000,000, law enforcement officials say.”

Shortly thereafter, the 18 former NBA players were revealed. Among those charged are recognizable names such as Terrence Williams, Shannon Brown, Sebastian Telfair, Darius Miles, and Glen Davis. You can see the full list of names down below:

The players are accused of submitting about $4 million worth of fake medical and dental reimbursement claims from 2017-2020. From these false claims, the 18 former NBA stars reportedly profited a total of $2.5 million in payments. Terrence Williams is also accused of pocketing an additional $230,000 for his alleged involvement in helping the others file their false claims.
