Netflix Releases Trailer For Colin Kaepernick & Ava DuVernay’s 6-Part Miniseries [WATCH]
Colin Kaepernick is telling his story in an upcoming Netflix series!
Earlier today (Tuesday, Oct. 12th), Netflix unveiled the trailer for an upcoming project centered on former NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick. The production, titled Colin in Black in White, will be a six-part miniseries that follows Colin Kaepernick‘s adolescent years. The series is a coming-of-age story that appears to be largely centered on aspects of racial identity–as Kaepernick grew up as an adopted biracial child in a white home.
Colin in Black and White is co-created by both Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay. Regarding her involvement in the project, Ava DuVernay commented:
“What interested me was the idea that, through his story, I could shed light on a core belief that I hold: that we can all be the hero, the lead character, of our own lives. Bottom line, I was interested in the process of becoming the star of your own life.”
Colin Kaepernick also dished on what inspired the series:
“I want Black and Brown kids and their communities to find guidance in how we can combat racism and oppressive systems. I hope someone can see that they too can come out on the other side and be able to say, ‘I faced those struggles. I’ve worked through them, and I was able to be successful and come out the other end, keeping my dignity and my identity intact.’”
Colin in Black and White will premiere on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 29th. You can watch the trailer down below:

Notably, this trailer comes about eight months after production for the miniseries was threatened by the Proud Boys–a far-right neo-fascist group that was heavily involved in the 2021 U.S. Capitol attack.
