Kendrick Lamar’s Company Producing Comedy Film About A Black Man Interning As A Slave Re-Enactor Who Discovers White Girlfriend’s Ancestors Once Owned Him
Kendrick Lamar is growing his resume in the film space. According to reports, the Grammy winning rapper’s pgLang company has teamed with Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s (South Park co-creators) Park County banner to produce a new feature film.
The live action comedy will
“depict the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”
The project will be produced for Paramount Pictures. A title for the film hasn’t been released yet, but production begins in the spring. No casting announcement or further details have been reported.
Kendrick Lamar is a rapper, songwriter and record producer. Since his mainstream debut in 2012 with Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, Lamar has been regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation. Aside from his solo career, he is also known as a member of the hip hop supergroup Black Hippy alongside his Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) label-mates Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and Schoolboy Q.
