Rapper Vic Mensa Taken Into Custody After Trip To Africa, Allegedly In Possession Of Mushroom
Vic Mensa has been arrested.
Chicago rapper Vic Mensa, 28, was reportedly held in U.S. customs for allegedly being in possession of mushrooms on Saturday (Jan. 17). He was returning from a trip to Africa.
Vic had touched down at the Dulles International Airport just outside Washington, D.C. when law enforcement reportedly conducted a secondary search. During the search, they allegedly stumbled upon, what they assumed to be, mushrooms.
Although the substance is still being examined, the rapper was booked for felony narcotics possession.
Vic and fellow Chicago rap act Chance the Rapper traveled to Ghana to promote tourism. The two met with President Nana Akufo-Addo. Jay-Z was also photographed with Vic during the trip.

In addition to Ghana, they were said to have made their rounds across the entire continent. The tour lasted for several weeks.
While there, they reportedly “visited various tourist sites and beaches.” They also connected with a few popular artists from the country, such as Sarkodie, King Promise, Black Sherif, and Gyakie.
Vic Mensa, whose real name is Victor Kwesi Mensah, is of Ghanian descent. Mensah began his rap in 2009. In 2014, he was a part of XXL’s Freshman Class. Three years later, he released The Autobiography, under the Roc Nation label.
