André Leon Talley Cause Of Death Ruled A Heart Attack & Complications From Covid-19
Sadly, the larger-than-life fashion editor, André Leon Talley passed away on Tuesday (Jan.18) White Plains, N.Y. at the age of 73. Since then, celebrities have been showing an outpour of love and appreciation for the fashion icon who paved the way for so many. According to reports, Talley passed away after suffering a heart attack. However, new reports have surfaced that list another reason as the cause of death. According to André Leon Talley’s friend of 45 years, Dr. Yvonne Cormier–the fashion icon allegedly passed away from complications from coronavirus as well as underlying health issues related to his weight.
Reportedly, another friend of Mr. Talley and the president of the Ford Foundation, Darren Walker confirmed in an email that he suffered from several chronic illnesses, including asthma, and contracted covid-19 several days before his death. This news comes as a shock to Talley’s neighbor Barbara Galella who says the fashion icon was “very cautious about Covid”.
According to Galella, she stopped by André Leon Talley’s home about six months ago in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, to share a book from her uncle Ron Galella, a famed paparazzi photographer. Reportedly, Talley came to the door but wouldn’t open it. Galella told sources,
“He was very cautious about Covid..He had the mask on and just said ‘leave the book on the porch.’ So I did..That’s why I’m surprised to read that’s how he passed.”
Talley’s family has yet to confirm if he indeed passed away from coronavirus.
As previously reported, André Leon Talley was a fashion journalist, stylist and creative director and American editor-at-large of Vogue magazine. He was the magazine’s fashion news director from 1983 to 1987, and then its first African-American male creative director from 1988 to 1995. Often regarded as a fashion icon, he was known for advocating for diversity in the fashion industry.
