Kyrie Irving Permitted To Play In Nets Home Games As COVID-19 Restrictions Loosen
It looks like Kyrie Irving will finally get to play in home games again. The Brooklyn Nets player allegedly did not get the coronavirus vaccine and was barred from playing in home games because of local protocols mandating that professional sports players be vaccinated. However, that will reportedly change on Thursday, March 24, when New York City Mayor Eric Adams reverses that mandate.

“We’re going to do it in the right way,” Eric Adams said about rolling back COVID-19 restrictions. “We’re going to follow the science … we’re going to make the right decision. And in New York, no matter what you do, this is 8.8 million people and 30 million opinions, so you’re never going to satisfy New Yorkers, so you must go with the logic, your heart, and the science.”
A report says that Kyrie Irving, 30, could return to the home court as soon as Sunday, March 27, when the Brooklyn Nets face off against the Charlotte Hornets. The Jasmine Brand reached out to representatives for Kyrie Irving for further comment but did not hear back immediately.
When previously asked about his vaccination status, Irving refused to comment, explaining:
“Honestly, I like to keep that stuff private… I would love to just keep that private and handle it the right way with my team and go forward together with a plan.”
He also said one’s personal choices should “be understood and respected.”
