French Montana Hit With Lawsuit, Accused Of Stealing Lyrics In ‘Handstand’
A rapper is accusing French Montana of stealing lyrics for his 2021 song, “Handstand.”
Reportedly, “Hot Boys” rapper Tab Virgil Jr. (aka Turk) could be taking Moroccan-rapper French Montana to court. According to a demand letter sent from Turk’s lawyers, he claims French Montana ripped off lyrics from his group’s 1999 hit “I Need A Hot Girl” without permission.
In addition, French’s track with the alleged stolen lyrics has already racked in more than 17 million views on YouTube after dropping just five months ago. On the track, Doja Cat and Saweetie can be heard singing lyrics, in which Turk claims to be similar to what he wrote and performed in the throwback track.
“I need a project b****, a hood rat b****. One don’t give a f*** and say she took that d***.”
Appearing to be a misunderstanding, sources say French bought the beat and the hook under the impression that the track was already cleared.
The “Hot Boys” was a New Orleans hip hop group that originated in 1997. The group is made up of B.G., Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk. The track “I Need A Hot Girl” became a successful hit for the group, peaking at No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100, the “Hot Boys” only single on that chart.
French Montana has yet to respond to the accusations as of now.
