Nipsey Hussle’s Last Moments Revealed As Murder Trial Begins
New details have been reported as the late Nipsey Hussle’s murder trial begins.
According to reports, hip hop artist Nipsey Hussle was gunned down in front of his clothing store in a calculated, premeditated fashion by a man upset over a conversation about snitching. Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was shot and killed at age 33 on March 31, 2019, in the parking lot outside his store, known as The Marathon. Two others were wounded in the shooting.

On Wednesday (June 15), Deputy District Attorney John McKinney told jurors during his opening statement that there’s “no doubt” that suspect Eric R. Holder knew in advance that he would kill Hussle. After a long-delayed murder trial, the prosecutor described the timeline of events, including the talk about “snitching” that allegedly led up to the shooting death of Hussle.
John McKinney told the jury in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom that Eric R. Holder shot Hussle at least 10 times, in addition to kicking the rapper in the head before fleeing the scene. Reportedly, the victim and suspect knew each other, growing up in the same neighborhood in South Los Angeles where they were members of the same gang, the Rollin’ 60s, and where the rapper was helping revitalize.

John McKinney showed the jury images and videos of the shooting during his opening statement, showing the shooting and Eric R. Holder running from the scene, wearing a red shirt and bandana while carrying a semiautomatic gun and a revolver.
According to McKinney, the shooting allegedly stemmed from Hussle hearing that Holder was a snitch and needed to “clear that up.” Before the shooting, McKinney said the rapper and his two friends were having a “cool conversation” with Holder. He added that Hussle visited the store without any security.

Former gang member Herman “Cowboy” Douglas, who worked at The Marathon, said Hussle didn’t use the actual word “snitch” while overhearing the conversation. He thought Hussle was trying to give Holder some advice in a “chill” exchange. He said Holder asked Hussle if he had listened to his recent music, but he didn’t sense any animosity between both men.
Per reports, multiple eyewitnesses who knew both Holder and Hussle informed police and grand jurors that Holder walked up to Hussle and gunned him down. Herman Douglas recalled Hussle’s words to Holder and said,
“He was saying ‘I heard there was some paperwork floating around. I haven’t seen (the paperwork.) You need to take care of that.’”
Bryannita Nicholson, who allegedly served as the getaway driver unknowingly is expected to testify. Holder and Bryannita Nicholson reportedly stopped to get food near The Marathon clothing store, which “moved Eric Holder to a point of wanting to return to the parking lot and kill Nipsey Hussle.” McKinney said Holder told Bryannita Nicholson “Drive before I slap you,” following the shooting.
After a two-day search, Holder was arrested, and two months later he was indicted by a grand jury. Attorneys spent nearly two weeks choosing a jury, and the trial is expected to last about two more weeks.
