J. Lo Gives Insight Into Rocky Upbringing With Mother In Docu: She Beat The S**t Out Of Us
Jennifer Lopez (J. Lo) may have a good relationship with her mother now, but the relationship between the pair wasn’t always the best.
In her new Netflix documentary, Halftime, J. Lo revealed that her mother Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodriguez was extremely hard on her growing up. In fact, her mother “beat the s*** out of her” growing up. J. Lo said,
“She [Rodriguez] did what she had to do to survive, and it made her strong, but it also made her tough. She beat the s**** out of you.”
Guadalupe Rodriguez also appears in the documentary, where she speaks on raising J. Lo as well as her two sisters Leslie and Lynda. She said,
“I always had the highest expectations of them. It wasn’t to be critical. It was only to show you that you could do better. Jennifer, she gave me the hardest time, to tell you the truth. We butted heads a lot.”
Halftime is available for streaming right now. According to its official Netflix description,
“Global superstar Jennifer Lopez reflects on her multifaceted career and the pressure of life in the spotlight in this intimate documentary.”
