On Thursday (June 7) Atlanta rapper Gunna appeared virtually in Fulton County Court, where he was denied bond for the second time. According to reports, it was ruled that Gunna, 29, must remain in custody until his trial, which is set to take place in January 2023.

As you may already know, Gunna was indicted on May 9, along with rapper Young Thug and 26 others, on Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) charges. Prosecutors allege the rappers are the cause of multiple murders and armed robberies. They also argue the rappers are involved with criminal street gang activity.

Young Thug
The 29-year-old is facing one count of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. Court documents state that the alleged offense was committed in 2013. Prosecutors tied Gunna to the case after he was spotted wearing YSL chains and posting pictures and videos on social media that allegedly promote the “criminal” group.

On Wednesday (July 6) Judge Ural Glanville of Fulton County Superior Court put a mandate in order that requires the defense attorneys to keep witnesses’ contact information concealed from their clients, as it has been reported that witnesses in Young Thug’s controversial court case have been threatened.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said:
“There are definitely many people that are looking at life under this indictment.”
Willis continued:
“These are serious times, they are serious allegations and it is my opinion that violence in our community deserves maximum penalties.”

Gunna’s lawyers argued he should receive a bond, after being denied the first time in May. However, the judge ultimately sided with prosecutors once again and denied Gunna’s request.
