Diane Warren Apologizes For Seemingly Shading Beyoncé’s Use Of Multiple Co-Writers For ‘Renaissance’: I Meant No Disrespect
It seems like Beyoncé really knows how to get the people going!
As you may already know, On July 29, Beyoncé, 40, dropped her highly-anticipated 7th studio album “Renaissance.” Since its release, the multi-Grammy-Award-winning artist has had to deal with a few critics, with the most recent one being fellow singer Diane Warren, 65.

On Monday (Aug 1), Diane Warren took to Twitter and seemingly shaded Beyoncé for how many people she credited on the “Renaissance” track “Alien Superstar.” She tweeted,
“How can there be 24 writers on a song? [eye roll emoji]”

It didn’t take long for the internet to fire back at the “Seaside” singer. Famed producer/singer The Dream, born Terius Nash, replied to Warren’s tweet to educate her on why many Black artists, including Beyoncé, sample other projects and why they like to credit everyone. He tweeted,
“You mean how’s does our (Black) culture have so many writers, well it started because we couldn’t afford certain things starting out,so we started sampling and it became an Artform, a major part of the Black Culture (hip hop) in America. Had that era not happen who knows. U good?”

Warren replied,
“I didn’t mean that as an attack or as disrespect. I didn’t know this, thank U for making me aware of it. No need to be mean about it.”

Despite her apology, many were surprised Diane Warren didn’t know that Beyoncé credits everyone who had a hand in creating her projects, including people involved with the original sample, because the two have previously worked together before. Warren collaborated with Beyoncé on “I Was Here.”
Others weighed on Warren’s tweet as well:
