Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Album Hits The No. 1 Spot On Billboard 200 Chart, Marking The Biggest Debut By A Female Artist In 2022
Beyoncé’s Renaissance album is everywhere… literally!
The highly-celebrated project reportedly debuted at number one on Billboard 200, earning a grand total of 332,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
With sixteen tracks to round out the musical masterpiece, Renaissance’s numeric performance crowned Beyoncé this year’s first female artist to top the controversial chart for the most sales in one week and the second-largest overall.
Making its way onto store shelves and digital platforms on July 29, the full-length work serves as Beyoncé’s seventh, consecutive solo release to score a top spot on Billboard in the United States, making her the first woman in the industry to do so since the entertainment publication incorporated record-tracking in the 1940s.
Also titled Act I: Renaissance, the body of work is the introductory installment of Yoncé’s awaited trilogy, which commenced at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When speaking on the creative motivation behind Renaissance, the “Break My Soul” songstress said:
“This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to the be the most creative. Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment.”
Additionally, Renaissance has dominated the Official U.K. Albums Chart as well, outselling competitor Harry Styles’ Harry’s House.
Since Renaissance’s unveiling, listeners have been raving profusely.
It’s safe to say, the #BeyHive owns Twitter right now.
