‘Victorious’ Star Daniella Monet Accuses Nickelodeon & Show Writer Dan Schneider of Sexualizing Cast
Nickelodeon and Dan Schneider are, once again, making rounds in the headlines — and not for good reason.
Nearly a week after former iCarly actress Alexa Nikolas accused the network of failing to protect its child stars from Dan Schneider‘s abuse and sexualization, another actress—Daniella Monet of Victorious—is calling them out yet again. Daniella Monet said some of the attire worn on-screen was
“not age appropriate,”
adding that she
“wouldn’t even wear some of that today as an adult.”
While most of the scenes were fun and friendly, Daniella Monet also recalled a time when she was made to eat a pickle while applying lip gloss. She expressed concern to Nickelodeon that it was too sexual to air, but her complaints fell on deaf ears—as the network aired it anyway.
According to Monet,
“Do I wish certain things, like, didn’t have to be so sexualized? Yeah. A hundred percent.”
Monet also pointed out that Dan Schneider‘s writers’ rooms were mostly run by males, and
“none of Schneider’s shows credited more than two female writers in the entirety of their runs; ‘Zoey 101’ and ‘Drake & Josh’ had zero.”
As previously reported, former iCarly star Alexa Nikolas took part in a protest outside of Nickelodeon headquarters on Friday, August 26. She publicly criticized the network’s working conditions and demanded that ex-Nickelodeon actors, or “survivors,” be freed from the non-disclosure agreements they’re forced to sign. She also called for an apology.

Alexa Nikolas said,
“My own personal experience at Nickelodeon — as you can see, it says here [on the sign] that Nickelodeon didn’t protect me. I did not feel protected at Nickelodeon as a child, personally. I’m demanding that Nickelodeon starts protecting children and not predators.”
Dan Schneider is said to have allegedly psychologically abused Nikolas during her time on the show by yelling at her until she cried. He is also said to have of reputation of trying to silence those who speak out against him.
