Silk Sonic’s Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak Withdraw From Grammy Awards Consideration: We Won The Moment The World Responded To ‘Leave The Door Open’
Silk Sonic did not “leave the door open” for a 2023 Grammy nomination.
In fact, they shut it entirely by deciding not to submit their album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, for the recording academy’s consideration.
In a statement, singer Bruno Mars said,
“We truly put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually, bow out of submitting our album this year. We hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party. Thank you for letting Silk Sonic thrive.”
This was surprising news to industry insiders who expected An Evening with Silk Sonic to snag several nominations, including Album of the Year. After all, in April, the group and album’s first single, “Leave the Door Open,” won four awards at this year’s Grammy ceremony.
Bruno Mars – 11-time Grammy-winner – further explained the group’s decision not to enter the album into the awards show race,
“Andy and I, and everyone that worked on this project, won the moment the world responded to ‘Leave The Door Open.’ Everything else was just icing on the cake. We thank the Grammys for allowing us to perform on their platform — not once but twice — and awarding us at last year’s ceremony. We’d be crazy to ask for anything more.”

Despite bowing out of the Grammys, Silk Sonic still has much to be proud of. The group’s debut album peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart with the hit singles “Skate” and “Smokin’ Out the Window.” Additionally, they have won multiple awards since forming in 2017.
Silk Sonic member Anderson Paak has won three Grammy Awards as a solo artist.
