Lil Durk will remain a free man after all!
In February 2019, Lil Durk was allegedly involved in a shooting that took place outside of Atlanta, Georgia’s iconic eatery, The Varsity. According to authorities, the occurrence happened after an argument broke out.

The male victim, 23-year-old Alexander Witherspoon, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. Following a surgical procedure, Alexander Witherspoon’s wounds were later proven non-fatal.
Reportedly, multiple shell casings were found at the scene of the incident, and a total of eighteen rounds of bullets were let off. Detectives claimed to have footage of Lil Durk firing the shots at the sufferer, and a witness had supposedly spotted the “Laugh Now Cry Later” rapper with a gun prior to seeing Alexander Witherspoon in a pool of blood. Additionally, Witherspoon’s vehicle, gold chain, and $30,000 were stolen.
Durk maintained his innocence but eventually turned himself over to authorities in May of that same year. The said evidence led to counts of criminal intent to commit murder and possession of a firearm.
Before his surrender, Durk spoke out, stating that he’d canceled his then-tour to handle the matter. He said,
“I have nothing to hide. I have nothing to run from.”

Durk also faced a host of other charges, which included aggravated assault, being employed by or associated with criminal street gang to conduct or participate in crime, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
However, on Monday (Oct. 17, 2022), the court ruled that all charges in the case would be dropped!
The motion read:
“The facts of this case have been reviewed and although probable cause existed for the defendant’s arrest, the decision at this time is not to prosecute.”
When speaking on the legal situation, Durk’s lawyer, Manny Arora, expressed,
“Choosing not to [prosecute] is essentually code for ‘ we can’t prove our case.’ Probably cause is an incredibly low standard. It’s not like reasonable doubt at trial. It took three years.”

Manny Arora added:
“He was never indicted, and our position has always been, while he was present [at the incident], he didn’t do any of the shooting, and he wasn’t involved in it.”
As of now, Durk’s representation is seeking to get the charges expunged from his record. He has yet to offer any further comment.
