Kanye West Could Be Denied Entry Into Australia To Meet New In-Laws Because Of Past Antisemitic Comments

Kanye West continues to pay for his antisemitic remarks.

On Wednesday (Jan. 25) Australian government officials revealed that the Chicago rapper could possibly be barred from entering the country to meet his new in-laws because of his previous antisemitic comments. Reportedly, Kanye West is planning to travel to Bianca Censori’s hometown of Melbourne to hang out with her loved ones. As you may know, the music mogul married Bianca Censori earlier this month, reportedly without filing a marriage certificate. Australia’s Education Minister, Jason Clare, claims if the 45-year-old applies for a visa it’s likely to be rejected. The Land Down Under has a reported history of declining people with antisemitic beliefs.

Kanye West now has a lengthy list of accolades that he’s lost due to the antisemitic remarks he made last year. As previously reported, the fashion designer recorded an episode of “The Shop,” however, the footage never aired due to his concerning comments made while filming. During this time, Maverick Carter, the Spring Hill Company CEO, released a statement and said:

“We taped an episode of The Shop with Kanye West.  Kanye was booked weeks ago and, after talking to Kanye directly the day before we taped, I believed he was capable of a respectful discussion and he was ready to address all his recent comments.  Unfortunately, he used The Shop to reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes.”

Maverick Carter continued:

“We have made the decision not to air this episode or any of Kanye’s remarks.  While The Shop embraces thoughtful discourse and differing opinions, we have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hate.”

Carter added:

“I take full responsibility for believing Kanye wanted a different conversation and apologize to our guests and crew.  Hate speech should never have an audience.”

West was also suspended from Twitter for his antisemitic remarks, which was the least of his worries. As you may remember, the Grammy Award-winner lost his billionaire status after companies such as Adidas, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. got wind of his controversial comments and terminated their partnership with West.

On Oct. 12 West addressed the brands and said:

“Hey, if you call somebody out for bad business, that means you’re being antisemitic. I feel happy to have crossed the line of that idea so we can speak openly about things like getting canceled by a bank.”

Balenciaga joined the bandwagon and cut their 10-year deal with the father of four. West’s honorary degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago was also withdrawn, which marked the first time in the institute’s 80-year history that a degree of its kind was revoked.

Due to changes in his tax bracket, West has reportedly faced financial struggles such as having to pause the renovations on his $57 million Malibu beach house. Reportedly, the Yeezy founder’s series of state tax lien notices show that his fashion brand owes California over $600,000 in foregone taxes.

According to reports, West has an ongoing battle with Australian Jewish groups, who have already requested for him to be refused entry if he requests a visa. Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief Peter Wertheim said:

“We’ve made the case that this particular individual does not meet the character test and that it would be in the national interest not to grant him a visa and we set out our reasons in some detail.”

Andrew Giles, the minister of Immigration, is in charge of deciding if West is granted access to the country.
