Kehlani Shares How Therapy Helped Her Realize She Is A Lesbian + Clarifies Who She Makes Music For
R&B songstress Kehlani is sharing how she discovered her sexuality.
The “Altar” singer opened up about coming out as a lesbian, after identifying as bi-sexual for years, during a recent podcast interview.

Kehlani, 27, admitted that she no longer has romantic relationships with men after her therapist suggested maybe she wasn’t sexually attracted to them. The singer explained:
“I don’t have any relationships with men anymore. I’ve been out as a lesbian for two years…I, quite frankly thought maybe I was just like broken, then my therapist was like, ‘how do you feel about women’, I was like ‘if a girl looks at me, I’m gonna melt’,”

She continued:
“But I could not say those things about men. She was like ‘you ever thought that maybe you’re just gay?’…I was like ‘yea, you’re right actually, probably.”

Back in April of 2021, the Grammy-nominated artist posted a video on social media officially declaring she’s lesbian, not bi-sexual as she previously stated. Kehlani’s transition to a dating life that only includes women came after a few public relationships. The musician has reportedly been romantically linked to several male celebs, including Yo Gotti, Party Next Door, and even an alleged affair with Kyrie Irving.

However, since publicly clarifying her sexual identity, Kehlani has only been spotted romantically with women. Kehlani and fellow musician 070 Shake dated for a while, but the love spark was seemingly short-lived. Now, it appears the artist has since moved on, going public with basketball player Kiara Russell. The two have been seen getting cozy several times on the singer’s TikTok profile.

During the interview, Kehlani also spoke about who her music is made for. After the interviewers asked if she makes records for “angry women,” the singer responded:
“I don’t even like to categorize women as angry because I think, why don’t we talk about what y’all did that pissed them off….ain’t nobody just walking around here mad for no reason.”
She added:
“If I happen to be pissed off when I make the song and b*tches can relate then you might want to apologize cause you clearly did something,”
