Missy Elliott & A Tribe Called Quest Among 2023 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees
Miss Elliot and A Tribe Called Quest are among the nominees for this year’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
On Wednesday (Feb. 1), the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame revealed its list of nominees, which includes:
Missy Elliot, A Tribe Called Quest, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, The Spinners, The White Stripes, and Warren Zevon.

This marks Missy Elliot‘s first time as a nominee and her first year being eligible. This is A Tribe Called Quest’s second time making the ballot after first making the list in 2022 but failing to get voted in.
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation had this to say about this year’s nominees,
“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates. These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”
According to reports, if Missy gets inducted, she will be the sixth solo hip-hop artist and 11th hip-hop artist overall to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as well as the first female rapper to receive that honor. A few other hip-hop stars that have been inducted are, Jay-Z, 2Pac, LL Cool, The Notorious B.I.G., and Run DMC.
The “Lose Control” rapper took to her Instagram Story to share her excitement about being nominated.

She later added,
“To all my supporters who have walked through the years with me & my career I thank you! And there is a link to vote”

The 2023 inductees will be announced in May, with the ceremony taking place in the fall.
